Ingo Rammer's Weblog: Remoting is not going away!
Remoting is not going away!

Doug Purdy, PM at Microsoft responsible for Serialization and Remoting, sets the record straight on rumors about Remoting going away:
1. Remoting is not going away.
2. We have a number of new Remoting features for the Whidbey release.
[...]
5. Let me repeat, Remoting is not going away.

[...]Remoting is about transparency and CLR type fidelity, not interop or service-oriented programming. Please bear this in mind when making your infrastructure decisions.
Thanks for setting the record straight - these rumors certainly didn't help anybody. Hey, I guess there might even be something like "Advanced .NET Remoting - Second Edition - .NET 2.0" at some time.

Oh, and yes, I'd be really excited to hear about the new features in Whidbey, but I guess the ambiguity of the sentence "No, I cannot go into detail about these plans presently (even if you have an NDA)." is pretty close to zero.
